PRESS RELEASE

NEW BRUSHLESS TORQUE-CONTROLLED SCREWDRIVER

Brushless Design Extends Driver Life, Provides Cleaner Operation

CLEVELAND, OH — April 16, 2003 –– A new electric torque-controlled screwdriver has been announced by ASG, a division of Jergens, Inc.  ASG is located at 15700 S. Waterloo Rd., Cleveland, OH 44110.  Telephone (216) 486-6163.  Fax (216) 481-4519.  Inquiries should be directed to Paula Yuen.   E-mail: asginfo@asg-jergens.com  Web: www.asg-jergens.com

The new ASG BL-7000 torque-controlled driver has a DC brushless motor, eliminating carbon dust and providing longer life.  Additionally, its brushless design allows it to be rated for continuous use with minimal heat build-up.  Intended for standard torque assembly applications, BL-7000 drivers automatically stop when a pre-set torque is reached, eliminating both over- and under-tightening.  Torques are easily adjustable using a hex wrench and can be set between 5 and 21 lbf•in.  A high torque version is available with 5-30 lbf•in capability.  Tamper-proof torque adjustment is also available.

The BL-7000 features the unique ability to convert from a lever-start to push-to-start driver in seconds, providing unmatched flexibility.  Its compact design, (9.4” long and 22.6 oz. weight), helps reduce operator fatigue.  The use of all metal gearing and magnetic switches are additional features which increase driver life.

The BL-7000 is recommended for high production vertical insertion of fasteners, and is particularly well suited for clean room assembly where static control is important.  An ESD-safe version is available.

Free literature is available from ASG.
